An Apology
Just a quick, short post to apologise to any regular visitors out there.
There hasn’t been any posts recently due to the fact I had a breakdown. The computer that is, not me! As I’m paid 4 weekly, I had to wait until payday drew near before I could afford to get it fixed. It’s done now, so hopefully I will be back in my writing stride soon, and new information will begin to appear.
I have also had my hours in my day job increased, and this has left me less time for research than I previously enjoyed, but I will still strive bring you articles that I hope will be of benefit to you.
Until the next time, many thanks for staying with me.

Improve Your Hearing Naturally.
I have been writing articles on here concerning tinnitus now for the past couple of months. I thought it was time I looked into other hearing related issues.
It was whilst researching that I came across another site I found quite interesting. Like Tinnitus Miracle, it looks to solve your hearing related problems naturally. I thought it would be worth sharing with both regular and new visitors to this blog.
I will be looking into this in more depth and will report my findings right here, probably early in the new year.
There will be other articles concerning hearing loss and the various symptoms and causes of the condition prior to that appraisal, so make sure you bookmark the site.
In the meantime, you can take a look at the site by clicking on here.
Until the next time, keep the faith.
Tinnitus Miracle – Appraisal.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a skeptic when it comes to searching the Internet for a solution to a problem. However, I am pretty guarded about it, after all, I’ve spent a small fortune buying enough “solutions” to issues over the years. Some have helped, others have failed – miserably! Tinnitus Miracle was different though.
For more years than I care to remember, tinnitus has plagued me. Like so many other sufferers out there, I had accepted the medical profession’s doctrine of – “There’s nothing you can do about it, you’ll have to learn to live with it” However, there was a problem with that. As time wore on, I felt myself slowly but surely being driven ‘nuts’ by my tinnitus. Did I really have to live with this?
A few months ago I decided to conduct some research of my own into the symptom. It was whilst scouring the ‘net for information I came across Tinnitus Miracle. I liked what I read in the sales letter on Thomas Coleman’s site. I liked the fact that relief could be obtained holistically. No medication with potential side effects to take, and no medical procedures with potential complications to undergo. Plus, the testimonials made impressive reading. Besides, I would also be covered by the Clickbank refund guarantee.
Around mid September 2011, I decided to ‘bite the bullet’ and make the purchase. I have to say that so far, it has been the best money I’ve spent in a long time. The relief that I have received from following Thomas Coleman’s advice has been nothing short of excellent.
It has only been around 2 months since I started reading the information inside Tinnitus Miracle, but the effects of the advice contained within has seen a marked improvement in my own tinnitus. Whilst it hasn’t gone completely – yet – its intensity has dropped to a point were I barely notice it most of the time. I feel I have a new lease of life.
This may be as good as it gets for me. I may be cured completely – eventually, but even if I had received just 50% of the relief I have achieved now, it has been money well spent.
What are the positives?
- For me, it has been a marked lowering of the intensity of my symptom.
- I have hope of a potential complete cure, I have only been following it for 2 months.
- Other people have already achieved a complete cure from tinnitus.
- As a result of following the advice, other aspects of my life have improved. For example, I made changes in my diet. This led to a loss in weight, and consequently, an increase in my energy levels. I feel like someone who’s just turned 40, and not someone in their early 50′s.
Are there any negatives?
Given that I have already gained so much from Tinnitus Miracle, I have to say I find it difficult to be negative. The following are the only things I could find to be sort of negative about.
- The biggest obstacle for many I guess would be the cost. It is a large document, not one that I would recommend reading on a computer monitor, which would only serve to wreck your eyes too! So I printed it off – all of it. So as well as the cost of the book, there’s the additional cost of printer ink. It isn’t cheap, but what cost do you place on your well-being, mental as well as physical?
- At over 250 pages, there’s a lot to take in. The cure or relief will not happen instantly. You really do need to take the time to read through the information in order to improve your understanding of the tinnitus symptom and its causes. Once you gain that understanding, and begin to follow the advice, only then will you begin the work of ridding yourself of tinnitus. So the time factor may be a negative for some people. Again though, if you’ve been suffering for some time, surely another 6-8 weeks (as in my case) isn’t going to be too much of a hardship.
In conclusion then, I can heartily recommend Tinnitus Miracle. As I mentioned earlier, I haven’t achieved a full cure yet, but it’s early days for me. However, even if I remain at the level I’m at now with my tinnitus, I would still consider it money well spent.
If you order today and act immediately, you could literally be tinnitus free in a couple of months.

Tinnitus & Hyperacusis.
- WHAT IS HYPERACUSIS?
It is a condition where the sufferer experiences sensitivity to sounds at certain frequencies. A person with hyperacusis may have difficulty in tolerating normal, everyday sounds. These sounds which will be normal for other people, will be exceptionally loud, and possibly quite distressing, for the sufferer. It can happen as a result of damage sustained to the inner ear. It is thought the efferent portion of the auditory nerve has been affected. Efferent refers to the fibres that originate in the brain, and which serve to regulate sounds.
This speculation would suggest that the efferent fibres of the auditory nerve are selectively damaged, while the hair cells that allow the hearing of pure tones in an audiometric test remain intact. Hyperacusis can also be aquired as a result of damage to the brain or neurological system. In this instance it can be defined as a cerebral processing problem, specific to how the brain perceives sound. In rare cases, hyperacusis may be caused by a vestibular disorder, and is called vestibular hyperacusis. This is caused by the the brain perceiving certain sounds as motion input as well as auditory input.
It is thought that approximately 40% of tinnitus sufferers, also complain of mild hyperacusis.
- WHAT ARE THE CAUSES?
Like tinnitus, the most common cause is overexposure to excessively high decibel levels (or sound pressure levels). It can be triggered suddenly by gunfire, the airbag deploying in your car, or by experiencing any sudden loud sound.
Other triggers include; taking ear sensitising drugs, lyme disease, menieres disease, TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder), head injury or surgery. Some people are born with sound sensitivity, or they have had a history of ear infections. It may even be due to a history of ear problems within the family.
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), published by the American Psychiatric Association, also lists hyperacusis as one of the possible signs of PCP, or Angel Dust intoxication!
- WHAT ARE THE TREATMENTS?
The good news is, there are treatments available. Most common treatment for the disorder is retraining therapy using broadband noise. Tinnitus retraining therapy uses broadband noise to treat hyperacusis.
Pink noise can also be used to treat the condition. By listening to broadband noise at a soft level for a regular period of time each day, patients can rebuild their tolerance to sound.
Steroids are also used to treat hyperacusis within 72 hours of the onset of the condition.
It is worth noting that it is important that the physician determines the patients sound tolerance level at the start of treatment. This is so hearing tests, or other diagnostic tests which involve lound noise (MRI), will not degrade the patients tolerance to sound.

Tinnitus & Alternative Remedies.
Have you been suffering from tinnitus for some time now? If you have, you must know how painful and frustrating all those noises in the ear can be. They can strike anytime in the day, and can become worse in the night. You would probably give anything to get some relief. But that’s of course, easier said than done.
The remedies suggested by the physician can give some relief. But the noises always come back. So are the noises of tinnitus getting on your nerves? Its time you considered alternative tinnitus remedies.
You should know that your physician practicing conventional treatments cannot really cure you from all those noises. Sure enough, your noises can go down with treatment, but they will always come back. At best, you can get some temporary respite from conventional treatment – nothing more.
You would be happy to know that there are a few wonderful alternative tinnitus remedies that have worked very well for many sufferers like you. There’s no reason why they can’t work for you.
Consider These Alternative Tinnitus Remedies
Herbal treatments – These treatments are developed from herbs.. For thousands of years, in ancient India, China and in other countries, herbal remedies have cured a lot of people from all kinds of diseases. We can’t really ignore that. Herbal remedies also usually do not cause any side effects. Even modern medicine is now agreeing that several herbs have curative values and have a large role to play.
The ginkgo biloba herb can be extremely effective in treating tinnitus. It can enhance blood circulation and treat vertigo – both these conditions have been linked to tinnitus. Ginkgo biloba can also calm your senses and ease the symptoms. On the negative side however, herbal remedies might not be as effective for everyone.
Essential oils – Sometimes essential oils also work very well. Some people have got very good results by applying one kind of oil. And for others, a blend of various oils has worked. Both these approaches can work. Oils such as Cypress, Lavender and Juniper have been tried by many tinnitus sufferers, and they report positive results.
Essential oils work best when they are applied through vaporization, massage, inhalation, compression and bathing.
Optimizing Your Diet – The food you eat is crucial to your health. When we choose the right foods, we stay healthy, and when we opt for all that junk stuff, we fall ill. It is essential that we have all the vitamins and minerals that our body needs to function properly. But sometimes, because of wrong food choices, the human body does not receive all the essential nutrients. For example, if you are not getting adequate Vitamin B, then you might develop tinnitus.
Luckily however, Vitamin B is easily obtainable from grains, cereals, vegetables and fruits. So always ensure that your eating plan includes them. Eat a well balanced meal that includes all the food groups. A supplement can never work as well as the natural food source.
Sound Masking – This is a unique approach to provide you some relief from the tinnitus noises. Those who suffer from tinnitus often report the problem worsening in the night. This happens because the silence of the night seems to intensify the noises heard. A masking device plays some soft natural noises that are pleasant on the ear. It is as if you are hearing some channel music at the hotel lobby or listening to your favorite composer through the earphone. The unpleasant swishing, buzzing and constant ringing is thus blocked.
Alternative tinnitus treatments may work. But there’s a problem. In most cases, when using alternative remedies for tinnitus, the root contributing factors that caused all those noises remain, and so the sounds will come back as soon as you have stopped following these treatments.
The only way you could ever get rid of your tinnitus for good is by following the holistic approach to healing. By using a multidimensional treatment for tinnitus, we are tackling all tinnitus causative factors and eliminating these triggering elements from the root. This is the only path for permanent freedom from tinnitus.

Tinnitus & Mental Health!
Is there a link between tinnitus and mental health? It hasn’t been scientifically proven, however, on a personal level, I don’t think there is any doubt that the link is there between the two.
Does your mental health issue cause your tinnitus?
Does tinnitus cause your mental health issue?
For me, YES is the answer to both of these questions. If your main health concern is a mental health issue, the chances are that you have been prescribed drugs to help you alleviate that condition. As we already know, tinnitus is a side effect of many prescription medications. However, tinnitus may come on, or worsen with certain drugs, or certain drugs can alleviate the symptom.

If you feel that your tinnitus first appeared, or degraded around the time you started taking your prescription, you need to discuss this with your doctor. The good news is tinnitus can just be a temporary side effect of the medication. It can ease off, or cease altogether, and generally will cease once medication can be discontinued.
Stress is also a factor that needs to be taken into consideration where tinnitus is concerned. Stress is mentally debilitating, affecting your nervous system and reducing your immune system, amongst other things. So in that regard, I would class stress as a mental impairement. Whether directly, or indirectly, my own feelings are that mental health issues are very much a contributor to the symptom.

So, in what way does tinnitus negatively impact on your mental wellbeing?
It is difficult to explain to anybody who has never suffered with tinnitus, just how bad it can get! For long periods, I have been able to “live with it.” There has also been long periods when it has got to me, and I have had great difficulty during those periods, “living with it.”
I wouldn’t say I became clinically depressed, but I’ve probably been close to it! How can you not get depressed when you have this constant, high pitched banshee scream inside your head. It’s there from the minute you wake, to the minute you finally manage to get to sleep. You can’t concentrate on anything other than the noise. It can cost you your job because you become ineffectual to your employer, and the classic signs of depression, a loss of self esteem. When it eats into you that much, you become neglectful.
Your home life degrades, your personal hygene degrades, and sadly, it can go downhill from there. I’ve heard of people who have become alcoholic, or felt suicidal as a result of their tinnitus affliction. There can be no doubt that suffering from tinnitus is mentally debilitating. How badly it affects you has a bearing on how it affects your mental wellbeing, and let’s not forget the impact it has on your loved ones!
What can we do about it?
We’ve already discussed the potential merits of hypnotherapy in an earlier article. The article was published on September 30 2011. It isn’t something I have tried personally, yet! But I won’t rule it out. Something I have done recently though, in the past 5 or 6 weeks, is change my diet.
I have never really been a fast food junky anyway, but I have to admit, I have relied heavily on pre-prepared, processed TV dinners and other processed foods. I have cut down on them, quite a lot. For convenience, I still do use them around once or twice per week, it depends on what shift I happen to be working.
I have been including a lot more fresh fruit in my daily diet, and I cook with fresh vegetables a lot more. In the past 3 or 4 weeks, not only do I feel better, I’m finding it a lot easier to relax when I’m not working. That has had a bearing on my own tinnitus problem. It’s still there, but a lot of the time, it’s not manifesting itself at the noise levels I was experiencing prior to the improvement in my diet.
So why not try a change of diet yourself, it could well be your salvation. I’m continuing down the road of the holistic approach to my problem, as championed by Thomas Coleman. Stay tuned to the site for a full review.
Until the next time; keep the faith.

Ear Protectors Are Cool!
Hi folks, today, I would like you to watch a very relevant video about tinnitus. I can honestly say that I wish I had the opportunity to access this sort of information when I was a younger man.
Had I had the wealth of information that’s available now, back then, things may be a little different for me now. However, would I have listened to all that good advice back then?
Music was an important part of my life, and I loved going to rock concerts. Motorhead, AC/DC, Status Quo and Iron Maiden, to name but a few. Crickey, I don’t think ‘Ace Of Spades’ stopped playing in my skull for a month after the Motorhead gig!
I wouldn’t say loud music was the sole contributor to my own tinnitus problem either. I was in the army, and my hearing took a pounding during that period of my life too. The thing is though; I was issued ear plugs, but only wore them when I was ordered to! I thought it was uncool to be seen wearing such stuff. “That’s for the cissies, I’m a hairy arsed man,” was my thought back then. The follies of youth and testosterone, huh!
The key thing I’m getting at here is the need to make sure we educate our younger generation enough to start protecting their hearing, and at an early age. The people in the tinnitus video are generally at an age when it’s a little too late for them, the damage has started. They also realise now that it’s not uncool to wear hearing protection, and they wished they had when they were younger.
Hopefully, the kids these days are a little more ‘switched on’ than they were when I was a youth. Kids these days think nothing of wearing a brace on their teeth. Back in my day, any kid wearing a brace was seen as a ‘freak’ or ‘geek’. Happily, that’s no longer the case, so getting them to put hearing protection in their ears shouldn’t really be that hard. We just need to encourage our kids, and keep reminding them of the consequences of ignoring such good, timely advice.
For those of us who have left it too late, you could do worse than to take a look at Thomas Coleman’s book “Tinnitus Miracle.” It shows you proven holistic methods to reducing, or even ceasing, the noise in your head. You can go to his website here.

Tinnitus and Menieres Disease
What is Menieres Disease?
It is a disorder of the inner ear which can affect a persons hearing and balance. Characteristically, sufferers will be blighted by occurences of vertigo, tinnitus and hearing loss. Menieres will affect people differently, and these symptoms will vary in their effects, from being a mild nuisance to a chronic, and lifelong disability.
What causes it?
Menieres disease is idiopathic. Idiopathic is a medical term that basically means the disease can arise spontaneously, or is a disease in its own right. However, it is believed to be linked to an excess of fluid in the inner ear. Endolymphatic fluid may burst from its normal channels in the ear, flowing into other areas causing damage. Menieres generally begins with one symptom, and eventually progresses.
What are the symptoms?
There are other conditions that can manifest themselves with Meniere’s like symptoms. For our purposes here, we will highlight the four symptoms associated with classic Menieres.
- Tinnitus in one or both ears.
- A feeling of pressure (or fullness) in one or both ears.
- Hearing loss in one or both ears. This can fluctuate and the hearing loss is progressive, generally affecting sounds in lower frequencies. For some people, sounds will become distorted or appear tinny, with some people experiencing abnormal sensitivity to noise.
- Attacks of rotational vertigo. These can vary in their intensity, are unpredictable, can be quite severe and incapacitating and can last from a few minutes to a few hours. In general, the attacks will last no longer than 24 hours. However, some sufferers will experience prolonged attacks, which can last several days to several weeks, resulting in severe incapacitation! These attacks will combine an increase in tinnitus and hearing loss. Hearing may improve after an attack, but will progressively become worse.
There is also a prevalence of migraine with patients with Meniere’s.
What can you do?
There are ways of coping with Meniere’s disease. Reducing your salt intake is thought to reduce the symptoms and severity of the condition. Although the connection between salt intake and the inner ear is not fully understood, high salt intake is thought to alter the concentrations of fluid in the inner ear.
Surgery may also be considered. However, some surgery will only really bring temporary relief to your symptoms, and doesn’t address long term effects. Also, as the inner ear also deals with balance as well as hearing, very few surgeries will guarantee no hearing loss.
Sufferers also tend to have high anxiety and stress levels due to the nature of the symptoms. My own method of approach to the tinnitus issue is the holistic approach. Treatments like aromatherapy, hypnosis (as discussed in a previous post), meditation and yoga.
I would recommend reading “Tinnitus Miracle” by Thomas Coleman. Thomas was a tinnitus sufferer who worked tirelessly to find a treatment to rid him of his tinnitus symptoms, and that would give him his life back. He could do the same for you with his holistic approach. Take a look at his website here.
Tinnitus and Hypnotherapy!
Does hypnotherapy really work? A lot of people will ask this question because there is a great deal of mystery about it. Conventional physicians often scorn at those who practice hypnotherapy, but there are those who vouch about the positives. So whom do you believe?
Did you know that even the conventional medical science is today looking at hypnotherapy for an answer to various illnesses? Yes, that’s true. Psychiatrists and psychologists are now increasingly turning to hypnotherapy to reach into the mind of the patient. They are beginning to believe that since the mind can control the body, it can be retrained to heal a condition. If nothing else, the mind can be trained to stay positive, and a positive attitude often helps in treatment.
- What About Tinnitus – Can Hypnotherapy Help Here?
Hypnotherapy can actually work very well for tinnitus. This is because some of the noises a person hears can actually be no noises at all. They are just phantom sounds. It is actually the perception of hearing them that bothers the person – there’s absolutely no physical source of these noises. So hypnotherapy can work by retraining the mind to ensure that the person stops hearing them. The results could be amazing really. It has been reported that as many as 50% to 76% of all tinnitus sufferers can get relief after just a few hypnotherapy sessions. In some people, the noises go away completely, and in others, the volume goes down considerably.
- The Problem with Hypnotherapy Is the Myth about It
In reality, most people do not understand hypnotherapy, and how it works. And they are often misguided by the hypnosis sessions that are shown on television. Here the therapist will put a person to sleep and order him/her to do all kinds of funny things. Of course no one wants to be completely vulnerable to the whims of the therapist, and thus, hypnotherapy has never really become a main-stream cure.
- What Really Happens In a Hypnosis Session?
A real life hypnosis session is much different than what is shown on television. Here the therapist will first put the person to a completely relaxed state. Once this is achieved, the therapist chooses from several cures such as regression therapy, ego state therapy and suggestive therapy. A single session might not give you the results, but take a few of them, and you can certainly notice a difference.
Hypnotherapy enhances self-consciousness, and this lets the person concentrate better. This is known as the alpha state. When the person is able to achieve this, he/she can recall the memory and retrain the brain to break the memory loop of sound that causes the tinnitus sounds.
Never underestimate the power of your brain. It has the ability to block off most of the things we see or hear everyday. If the brain couldn’t do this, then we would have to evaluate or analyze everything we see and hear. But that’s not what happens. This is because the brain prioritizes things and lets us get on with our daily lives.
Especially when tinnitus is not directly related to a risky physical health condition, using the correct manipulation, hypnotherapy can decrease our awareness to the sounds of tinnitus.
Moreover, hypnotherapy can significantly contribute to relaxation and distress the patient and there are some manifestations of tinnitus that are almost directly related to a prolong state of anxiety and stress or are intensified by it.
Hypnotherapy can provide some relief from tinnitus. It can reduce or temporarily make the sounds go. But remember, the sound is just a symptom. It is best that you try to cure the root causes, instead of turning to symptomatic treatments such as hypnotherapy.
The only way you could ever get rid of your tinnitus for good is by following the holistic approach to healing. By using a multidimensional treatment for tinnitus, we are tackling all tinnitus causative factors and eliminating these triggering elements from the root. This is the only path for permanent freedom from tinnitus.
This article is based on the book, “Tinnitus Miracle” by Thomas Coleman. Thomas is an author, researcher, nutritionist and health consultant who dedicated his life to creating the ultimate Tinnitus solution guaranteed to permanently reverse the root of ear ringing and naturally and dramatically improve the overall quality of your life, without the use prescription medication and without any surgical procedures. Messages from outer space!
Hi Folks,
last time I promised you an amusing anecdote to try and bring a little humour to our depressing symptom, and here it is.
Around 20 years ago, my tinnitus went through a phase that was sending me out of my mind. It had never been like this with me prior to the way it was happening to me then. Usually, I just got that constant high pitched ringing, in one or both ears. This time though it was different.
What began to happen was that instead of the constant ringing, I was getting a series of dots and dashes! This would happen for a week or more, then it would revert back to the constant ringing for a week or more. Eventually, the gap between the dots & dashes and constant ringing became less, and the period of getting dots & dashes lasted for longer. After a few months of this, I was getting really hacked off with it. Plus I thought I was going out of my mind!
One night I was out with a couple of friends, just enjoying a couple of beers down at my local pub, and I happened to mention what was going on.
“What does it sound like?” asked Brian.
“Sounds like bloody morse code.” I replied.
“Maybe it’s some alien nation sending you subliminal messages.” remarked Brian.
“Well, you were in the Royal Signals, can’t you decipher it?” asked Geoff.
I then said that although I was in the Signals, my job involved fixing and running generators. I very rarely went near a radio, let alone a morse key, so I wouldn’t have a clue what these ETs were trying to say to me.
“Probably just trying to sell you car insurance, or something like that anyway!” smirked Brian.
On the table next to us was Harry and a few of his pals. I didn’t really know Harry that well, as regulars we were on nodding terms. Suddenly, Harry spoke up.
“Couldn’t help overhearing you lads there, I might be able to help. You see, I was also in the Signals, and I was an RTG.” This stands for radio telegraphist, so Harry was familiar with morse code.
“Is it happening now?” Harry asked.
It was! A pen and notepad were requested from the bar, and we got together whilst I repeated the ‘signals’ and Harry wrote them down. After 2 or 3 minutes of me saying “dot dash dash dot dot dash dot dot dot dash” etc, Harry called a halt to the incoming messages from outer space, and proceeded to decode them.
Another round of beer was brought to the table, and we animatedly discussed the possibility of outside contact from a new world. After a few minutes I heard, “there you are Paul.” Harry passed over a piece of paper with the decoded message on it. It read something like this;
“shfnbtuhkkncvfgtujserwoljplmfbtancjtiumfiafaasuiopmnkgxzzxth”
“ah well, at least I know I’m not going nuts.” I said.
The last word went to Geoff.
“Yeah, and you’ll have to phone around for the cheapest insurance quote like the rest of us mere mortals!”
Until next time, keep the faith.
